Things to consider before transferring your defined benefit (DB) pension scheme

We understand that the decision to transfer out of a DB pension scheme can be a little daunting. So we’ve put together a guide to help you understand the sorts of things you need to consider carefully before deciding if transferring your DB benefits is right for you.

Anyone who has DB benefits with a Cash Equivalent Transfer Value (CETV) of over £30,000 must, by law, get regulated financial advice before they can transfer their DB pension to a DC pension scheme.

You need to be certain that transferring your benefits out of your DB pension scheme is the right thing for you. If you have any doubts, it might be best not to transfer.
