Women in Finance – series of blogs, episode 3

Molly Harvey, Mortgage and Protection Adviser

For our third episode in our Women in Finance series, we interviewed Molly Harvey, one of our mortgage and protection advisers, to find out more about what inspired her to join Foster Denovo and hear her thoughts on to the importance of encouraging more women to take a career path within the financial services industry

Molly joined us in 2021, already CeMAP qualified and with experience acquired from her client facing background. She then joined the Foster Denovo Adviser Academy, which provided her with the technical skills and knowledge required to help her advise clients on their mortgage and protection needs. As well as the opportunity to assist clients securing mortgages on their dream homes, something she finds very rewarding

Here Molly gives us an insight into her journey to becoming a mortgage adviser at Foster Denovo and shares her passion to support the Women in Finance Charter.

“As a self-employed Mortgage and Protection Adviser at Foster Denovo, I am passionate about helping my clients to secure a mortgage that’s right for them, making the whole process as smooth as possible. For example, this might be a mortgage on a first home or a buy-to-let property and lots more in between. My role varies quite a lot and can be affected by what’s going on in the world around us so it’s important to stay up to date to give my clients the best possible advice.

Most recently with the challenging market and cost of living crisis, securing remortgages and new deals at the lowest possible cost for my clients has been vital.

I always knew that working in a client facing role within financial services would be a career that I would enjoy, so I was determined to gain the qualifications required to make this happen. There are a lot of different elements to running your own business, but the support I received from Foster Denovo gave me the confidence to take the leap. I now run my own business efficiently and without having to worry about things such as admin tasks, as I can simply tap into the resources available as and when I need them. This allows me to give my clients the best experience possible.

What I love the most about my role is delivering good news to my clients on their accepted mortgage offer, who doesn’t like to deliver good news? I also like to help my clients understand the importance of having financial protections in place and arranging this for them. It’s an important part of any individuals financial planning and I feel a sense of pride knowing that I am able to help my clients make the right decisions so that their family’s finances are taken care of if the worst were to happen.

Getting behind the Women in Finance Charter says a lot about Foster Denovo

The financial services industry has been lacking gender diversity for many years now and seeing companies like Foster Denovo committed to rectify this imbalance and joining the Women in Finance Charter is incredible. I’m passionate about encouraging women and young people into the industry and that’s why I was pleased to be invited for this interview to highlight the issue. It’s important to raise awareness about the opportunities and changes in the financial sector, as well as break stereotypes. My advice to anyone who might be interested in joining the financial services industry is to be open to continuous learning, as it’s a dynamic sector that will challenge you but is also very empowering and rewarding to be a part of.
