Risk busters: 10 top compliance consultants

With the RDR less than six months away and the FSA becoming increasing proactive, it is more important than ever for advisers to stay on top of compliance.

New Model Adviser mentions 10 top consultants who can help financial advisers to avoid falling foul of the regulator.

Scott Soper, compliance and risk director at Foster Denovo, keeps the national firm of financial advisers up to date with all the latest Financial Services Authority (FSA) rules, and still finds time to keep an eye on his specialist subject, European regulation.

Soper said his biggest challenge in the run-up to the retail distribution review (RDR) came not from sudden rule changes, but in making sure client needs and adviser demands adhered to new regulation.

‘I will always be looking for ways to improve alignment between these, so that doing business becomes more and more efficient,’ he said.

He joined Foster Denovo from the regulatory practice at Grant Thornton in 2009, and has the inside track on the FSA, having been seconded to its retail policy team working on how Mifid II would impact on UK financial services.
